Circuit Motorsports New SCCA Solo Sponsored Driver - Tyler Jago

Circuit Motorsports has a new sponsored SCCA driver. We are excited to see what he can do this season in his 11 Subaru STI! You'll see occasional updates from Tyler on his events and what hes been changing on his car! Check out Tyler's bio below!

Name: Tyler Jago

Age: 35
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Make Model of Car: 2011 Subaru STi

How did you get started in competition?
I began Autocrossing in the summer of 2011...when I got my car. ;) My older brother Autocrossed a bit with his Evo VIII so when I picked up my STi that is where I headed.

How many years have you been competing?
In 2011 I just dabbled my feet in the racing waters, I attended three summer events and two winter events. In 2012 I completed a full season with SCCA and BMWCCA...got hooked early and haven't looked back.

How well have you done?
2012
  • 2nd in STU with SCCA
  • 3rd in ST* with BMWCCA
2013
  • 2nd in STU with SCCA
  • 26 out of 248 overall
  • 2nd in ST* with BMWCCA
  • Attended Solo Nationals (nuked my first day but took 12th out of 27 on day two)
Our sponsored parts on the car?
I picked up a full brake package and a super sexy set of 17x10 +38 RPF1s.
For braking I went with:
  • Stoptech Powerslot Rotors
  • Hawk HP+ pads
  • Stoptech SS lines
  • Motul RBF600 fluid
Other vehicle modifications?
My car is a DD so mods are geared towards making the car streetable but also competitive. This year I may suck up a hit of increased NVH to upgrade bushings, time will tell:
  • Performance
    • AEM CAI
    • Invidia DWG 3" DP
    • Exhaust turndown (competition only, for DD I run a full MagnaFlow CBE)
    • Cobb STU legal pro-tune
  • Grip
    • Racecomp Engineering Tarmac II (550#f/600#r)
    • GTWorx Camber Plates (-2.5*f/-1.5*r camber, 0* toe all around)
    • 245/40/17 Hankook R-S3
    • 17x10 +38 Enkei RPF1
  • Lightness
    • Cypher Auto Viper Series racing seats
    • Ballistic Performance LiFe battery
  • Ricer cosmetics ;)
    • HID blue headlight vinyl
    • Cool stickers
    • Carbon vinyl wrapped interior bits
    • Sexiest 2008+ STi hatchback rear end ever!!

What are your goals for future competitions?
I will continue to compete locally with SCCA and BMWCAA. My goal is to topple the MR Evo that has enjoyed 1st place honors with BMWCCA for the last four years. In 2011 I was 3s off his fast lap and now I'm down to just 0.2s. Watch out Ryan, I'm coming for ya!! :)

With SCCA I'm shooting for a top 20 overall points finish. In my region we have about a dozen National, Pro and Match Tour champions. The competition is great because there is always someone faster than me to chase. I've taken FTD in ST* a couple times and would love to grab top PAX. In 2013I recorded one of the highest scores my region has seen in STU with a 982 and was just 0.5s off the leader. Competition in STU is going to be fierce but I'm really excited to for the season to start.

I'm also attending the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championship in Lincoln Nebraska, Wilmington Pro Tour in Ohio and the PPIR Match Tour in Colorado. National events are pretty daunting and I don't have any illusions of winning. Last year I was intimidated by the enormity of the event on day one which screwed my overall results. When I settled down on day two I took 12th out of 27 in my class. This year I would like to finish in the trophies within my class and finish in the top half overall.

Eye Candy?
